Jan Melvin Wolgemuth, 88, of Chambersburg, PA passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, at the Mercy House in Chambersburg. Born September 18, 1936, in Manheim, Lancaster County, PA, he was the son of the late Anna Verna Wolgemuth (Shirk) and Melvin Lehman Wolgemuth. His stepmother was the late Dorothy Wolgemuth of Green Cove Springs, FL. He attended East Juniata High School and served in the United States Air Force as a mechanic from January 1957 to January 1961. He was a longtime member of the Antrim Brethren in Christ Church in Chambersburg. He owned and operated Juniata Fruit Farm and Market, drove long-haul trucks, worked for Franklin County Transportation Services and owned and operated Train Shed Hobbies in Chambersburg. He was an avid collector of Lionel trains, lifelong fan of NASCAR, attending races on the beach and track at Daytona, a fan of Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers football, and loved to travel and spend time with family. He enjoyed reading the Juniata Sentinel and exploring his family genealogy. He is survived by his wife, Dorine Angle-Wolgemuth, who he married on April 16, 2004; son, Phil Wolgemuth and his wife, Christine, of Chambersburg, stepsons, Rick Angle and his wife, Holly, of Waynesboro, PA, Rodney Williams and Steven Williams, grandson, Ethan Wolgemuth, step granddaughter, Brandie Brown and her husband, Shannon, of Shippensburg, PA, step great grandchildren, Audrey, Landon and Hannah, brother, Robert S. Wolgemuth, of Traveler’s Rest, SC, nieces, Tonja Larke and Cynthia Rosenthal, and nephews, Lamar Wolgemuth and Daryl Wolgemuth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna M. Wolgemuth (Bricker), and stepson Greg Williams. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, with Pastor Casey Hurst officiating. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private at Lost Creek Cemetery, Fayette Township, Juniata County, PA.
