Ms. Carrol L. Platt Carpenter, 86, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday morning, December 6, 2022, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.
Born December 22, 1935, in Youngstown, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Albert William and Carrie Leatherbury Platt.
Ms. Carpenter worked for many years for Coffman Home for the Aged, known now as Coffman Nursing Home, Hagerstown.
Ms. Carpenter continued broadening her horizons attending classes at Hagerstown Community College.
She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Temple, Hagerstown, where she was once active with their Awana Program.
Surviving are her children, Debby Reed, Anthony “Tony” Blackburn and wife Cindy, and Robert “Bobby” Blackburn, Sr., all of Hagerstown; her grandchildren, Tracey and Diane Reed, Harry Reed and wife Zacha, Amy LeRoux and husband Filip, Paul Blackburn and wife Shannon, Brenda Lappe, Donald Netz, Robert “Bobby” Blackburn, Jr., Jacqueline “Jackie” Blackburn, Kyle Blackburn and Kody Blackburn; and several great grandchildren including Lenzie, Emilee, Alexis, Aesis, Pamiangelize, Benjamin, James, Zane, Cassandra, Austin, Sierra, Robert III, Hunter, Zack, Brittany, Melanie, Brendon, Bowen and Cooper.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Carpenter was preceded in death by her daughter Charlene Netz; brother Donald C. Platt; and step-mother Florence M. Dembrowski Platt.
The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Saturday, December 10, beginning at 10:00 AM until the funeral service begins at the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Her son, Rev. Anthony L. Blackburn, pastor Heritage Baptist Church, Three Springs, Pennsylvania and associate pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Temple, Hagerstown, will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Williamsport.
