North falls 77-73 to Patriots, Shepherd men and women victorious

HAGERSTOWN – Thomas Johnson rallied in the fourth quarter Friday to pull out a 77-73 victory over North Hagerstown. 

The Patriots trailed 69-66 after three quarters, but outscored the Hubs 21-14 in the last eight minutes to claim a road win. 

North was guilty of 21 turnovers, which included 11 steals by TJ. 

Brayden Cespedes led North with 32 points, while Ja Ron Nicholson scored 15, including three 3-pointers. 

MEN’S BASKETBALL 

Shepherd 95, Mansfield 67 

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Colby White scored a game-high 22 points on Saturday to lead Shepherd University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East win over Mansfield. 

White connected on 8-of-13 field goals, including 6-of-8 from three-point range, along with three assists. 

Marcus Banks added 17 points, six assists, and six rebounds, while Elwyne Wordlaw had 15 points, four assists, and four boards for the Rams (9-7, 5-4) 

Brody Davis had 14 points, eight boards, and five assists. Favor Okigweh and Daouda Traore each added 12 points and eight rebounds.  

Shepherd had a 50-26 lead at halftime as Banks (10) and Traore (12) combined for 22 first-half points. 

Shepherd connected on 57.4 percent (39-68) of its field goals with a 53.8 percent (14-26) performance from three-point range for the game. 

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL 

Shepherd 80, Mansfield 62  

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va.– Lamaria Estridge and Cassidy each scored 16 points to lead Shepherd University to a victory on Saturday over Mansfield (2-15, 0-10) in PSAC East matchup.  

Estridge added six rebounds. three steals and a pair of assists for the Rams (3-11, 1-8). Rhodes hit three 3-pointers and a pair of rebounds and two assists.  

Jenna Liska had 10 points and tied Mansfield’s Katie Sheeler with a game-high nine rebounds. She added two assists and two blocks.  

The Rams took a 27-14 lead in the first quarter and never trailed in the game.
