GREENCASTLE – The Greencastle High School gymnasium was transformed into the magical Emerald City for one enchanting evening, as the Eighth Annual Daddy-Daughter Dance brought together families, community members and volunteers for a night to remember.
The event, held as the capstone project for recent Wilson College graduate Denise McDowell, not only created lasting memories but also raised nearly $50,000 to support local education.
McDowell, who recently completed her master of applied leadership at Wilson and serves as the director of major gifts at the institution, led a dedicated committee of ten Foundation Board and community members. Together, they oversaw every aspect of the event, from planning and publicity to execution on the big night.
The dance welcomed 670 members of the Greencastle community, all eager to walk down the “yellow brick road” and experience the wonder of the Wizard of Oz-themed celebration. Volunteers worked tirelessly to transform the school into a sparkling Emerald City, complete with themed decorations and activities that delighted guests of all ages.
Beyond the fun and festivities, the event served a greater purpose: supporting the Greencastle-Antrim Education Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to enhance the educational experience of students in the Greencastle-Antrim School District, and the funds raised from the dance will go directly toward programs and initiatives that benefit local students.
