Another day, another come-from-behind victory.
North Hagerstown trailed by four after one quarter and by one point at the half before taking control in the second half on Friday for a 63-57 win over Oakdale.
It was the third straight game the Hubs (5-0) have trailed at the half – all against Frederick County schools – before gaining control in the second half to win.
Brayden Cespedes led North with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Joey Dorsey added 18 and 11 rebounds. Jaron Nicholson added 10.
North outscored the Bears 17-12 in the third quarter to take the lead enroute the six-point win.
Smithsburg 77, Catoctin 40
The Leopards overpowered the Cougars behind Jacob Tylers 16 points and seven assists.
James Hare had 14 points for Smithburg, while Grady Schleupner added 12 and Canden Zeigler accounted for 11 as the Leopards put four players in double figures.
On Wednesday, Smithsburg was edged by Brunswick, 62-58, despite 22 points by Tyler. Blumenauer scored 15 points for the Leopards.
Thomas Johnson 77, South Hagerstown 69
Avery Cosley, Luke Leisinger and DJ Wade scored 17 points each, but the Rebels came up short against the Patriots.
Wade had eight rebounds and Cosley added seven, while Leisinger had three assists.

Smithsburg 71, Catoctin 52
THURMONT, Md. – Claire Bono put up her third straight 20-point game to lead Smithburg to an important win over Catoctin.
Bono scored 23 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Leopard (6-0). Bono had 24 points in wins over Boonsboro and Brunswick earlier this week.
The Cougars, who have been traditionally one of the stronger Class 1A teams in the area, are considered one of the measuring sticks for the season.
Kara Hoover backed Bono with 18 points, including three 3-pointers, while Skyla Mastronardi added 11 and Jenna Todd had 10. Mastronardi added sic rebound, four assists and four steals, while Todd collected seven blocked shots to go with three assists and four steals.
Boonsboro 62, Clear Spring 49
Mylee Hartman and Mikayla Bailey combined for 38 points to pace the Warriors in a 13-point win over Clear Spring. Hartman had 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Mikayla Bailey produced 18 points and 14 rebounds in the win.
Kaylee Hnesley led Clear Spring with 15 points, while Kaeleigh Roberts added 14.
Thomas Johnson 72, South Hagerstown 31
Aniyah Freeman scored 16 points, with five rebounds, two steal and two blocked shots, in the Rebels’ loss to the Patriots.
Khole Terrlonge added 10 points for South.
TJ’s Sophia Burgew was the game’s high scorer with 16 points.

Two Rams named to Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America Team
BROOKFIELD, Ill. – Shepherd University defensive back Klayton Batten and punter Daishaun Alexander have been named to the 2025 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America Team released on Friday.
Alexander, a second team choice, punted 44 times for a 44.57 average. He had 16 punts placed inside the 20-yard line and booted 13 punts of 50 yards or more. His 44.57 average led the PSAC and ranks him second nationally.
Batten, a second team choice, recorded 42 tackles (30 solos) with 1.5 tackles-for-loss. He added five interceptions for 99 yards, four pass breakups, four forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. His 0.45 interceptions per game tie for the lead in the PSAC and rank him eighth nationally. Batten also ranks seventh nationally in forced fumbles with a 0.36 per game average.
