WAYNESBORO – Seventh grade students from Waynesboro Area Middle School recently toured WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital to learn about a variety of health care careers as part of the school’s “Adventures in Careers” event.

The main objective of the program is to give students a firsthand look at the real-life aspects of professions that interest them. “The main goal of Adventures in Careers is to have students experience the real-life ins and outs of a career that they feel most connected to at this point in time in their life,” said Kelsie Weaver, a counselor at Waynesboro Area Middle School. “We also hope to have students engage in hands-on aspects of the career and have their questions answered by experts who are currently in the profession.”

During their hospital visit, students explored multiple stations throughout the facility. They learned about roles in diagnostic services, emergency medicine, pulmonary services, nursing, surgical services and physical therapy. The event aimed to provide students with practical knowledge and inspiration about future career possibilities in health care.
