CHAMBERSBURG – Students in the Medical Assisting program at the Franklin County Career and Technology Center received hands-on emergency training before Christmas break.
Mackenzie Shepherd, BSN, RN, from Meritus, visited the class to provide “Stop the Bleed” instruction to Marsha Egolf’s students. The national program teaches techniques for controlling life-threatening bleeding.
During the session, students practiced trauma care skills, including packing wounds, applying direct pressure, and using tourniquets to stop severe bleeding. They also learned how to document tourniquet use and timing for emergency medical reports.
The interactive training gave students practical experience and confidence in managing emergency situations that could save lives.
