Students from Franklin County Career and Technology Center’s Mechatronics program had the opportunity to visit FedEx Ground in Newville on Friday. The trip, dubbed “FedEx Friday,” offered students an insider look at how their technical training directly applies to the operations of a major logistics hub.
The visit was hosted by FedEx representatives Mary, James – an alumnus of CareerTech and current Adult Education Instructor – and a Fed Ex staff member, who provided a VIP tour of the facility. Students explored the mechanics behind the 24/7 operations and learned how mechatronics expertise ensures the smooth functioning of the massive distribution center.
The partnership between CareerTech and FedEx highlights the importance of workforce collaboration in preparing students for real-world careers. As Daniel Stockman, mechatronics instructor, emphasized, “Anything is possible when technical skills meet industry opportunities.”
