The Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Department will host a meat raffle Saturday, Feb. 7, at the MAVFD Social Hall, 517 S. Main St., Mont Alto. Doors open at 5 p.m., with a ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans and pie meal served at 6 p.m., followed by the raffle at 7 p.m. Tickets are 15 dollars per pack, and each pack includes 50 chances to win meat prizes, including two large boxes of assorted cuts. Organizers also plan small games of chance throughout the evening, with proceeds supporting the volunteer department’s operations.
One week later, on Saturday, Feb. 14, the fire company will welcome guests back for an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. at the social hall. The menu features scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, toast, biscuits, pancakes, juice and coffee. Adult meals are 12 dollars, meals for ages 6 to 12 are 7 dollars and children 5 and younger eat free. Department leaders say the hearty breakfast is a way to bring families together while raising money to keep apparatus, equipment and training up to date.
Both events are open to the public, and tickets for the meat raffle will be sold at the door the night of the drawing. Firefighters encourage residents to attend one or both events, noting that community support at fundraisers helps ensure continued fire and emergency medical coverage for Mont Alto and the surrounding area.
