HAGERSTOWN, Md. — A major Washington County infrastructure project will officially open with ceremonies on July 21.
The Professional Boulevard Extension Project, a multi-phase roadway project, is designed to improve regional connectivity, ease traffic congestion and support future commercial and industrial growth, according to Washington County government officials.
The project includes the completion of Phases 1 and 2 of the Professional Boulevard Corridor, featuring a new four-lane closed-section roadway connecting Eastern Boulevard to Yale Drive. The corridor also includes a 300-foot-span bridge over Antietam Creek.
Phases 3 and 4 extend the roadway from Yale Drive to Robinwood Drive, completing the full corridor and establishing a more direct transportation route across the area.
County officials said the project is expected to improve access to future development sites, provide a more efficient route for emergency responders traveling between Eastern Boulevard and Meritus Medical Center, and reduce reliance on signal-heavy roadways.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 3 to 4 p.m. July 21 along Professional Boulevard, east of the Yale Drive roundabout.
