The Carlisle Thundering Herd emerged victorious in our Game of the Week, defeating the Waynesboro Maidens 8-4 on Friday. This result puts Carlisle at a 3-0 record for the season, while Waynesboro now stands at 1-1.
Despite the Maidens’ strong start to the season with their win over New Oxford, they were unable to overcome the Thundering Herd’s powerful offense and pitching. Carlisle’s returning All-Stars likely played a significant role in their victory, with players like Alexis Kline, Summer Kunza, Mackenzie Lilley, and Molly Renninger contributing to the team’s success.
For Waynesboro, this loss represents a setback in their quest to qualify for districts for the first time since 2022. However, the season is still young, and the Maidens will have opportunities to bounce back and improve their record in upcoming games.
This game showcased the competitive nature of high school softball in the area and highlighted why Carlisle was considered one of the toughest challenges for Waynesboro this season. The Thundering Herd continue to demonstrate why they were District 3-6A quarterfinalists last year and remain a formidable opponent in the current season.
