On Friday, March 28, readers will notice our newly redesigned LocalNews1.org site that will offer a streamlined layout, faster speed, easier use on your mobile devices and the solid content you’ve come to expect.
Many of you are among the initial group of readers who started with us in November 2021. As word spread, others have joined the reader ranks since that time. In fact, our web traffic is up by 12 percent in the last quarter.
You may be interested to know that in the three-plus years we’ve been serving you, we have had 382,000 active users – that is people who have visited our site and been active with the content. And, over the past month, we averaged 30,000 active users, which has been increasing steadily over the past several months.
LocalNews1.org was started to fill a gap in the area newsgathering opportunities. Some area news media were simply gone; others were purchased by chains. As a result, there was a void in much of the local news about your neighbors, local organizations, the sports teams your kids play on, as well as the running and race car events you try to follow (or participate in).
Subscribers should have received a note about our plans for redesign, so this will serve as a reminder to them and offer new information to those who missed that.
The redesign is coming to you after months of collaboration, hard work and dedication from our business, news and tech teams. This redesign is more than just a visual update—it’s an important step forward in enhancing your experience as a reader.
We want to point out one new feature you’ll find in the Media Links on our page. That’s “Let’s Talk Tristate,” a new live two-hour radio program from noon to 2 p.m. weekdays on 92.1 FM The GOAT. It features news, sports and pre-recorded interviews from the tristate area. LocalNews1.org provides their news. We also provide a recorded 15-minute segment at noon each Friday, including our popular “Five Things to Do This Weekend” piece and a recap of the week’s news. We hope you’ll check it out!

We apologize for any inconvenience, but our LocalNews1.org news site will be unavailable from noon on March 27 through March 28 as we put the finishing touches on this new design. And on March 28, your login will be required. Your current subscription will remain intact, but when the new site launches, subscribers will be required to log into your account again (select the person icon in header of the home page). If you start to see “Subscribe Now” pop-ups, that means you are not logged in.
