Leaves are falling, the temperature is dropping, and sunset is arriving earlier every evening. The final days of the 2026 auto racing season are upon us.
Lance and Cole Dewease, a father-son racing duo from Fayetteville, are trying to squeeze every last drop out of the schedule before it’s time to pack up for the winter.
They hit the road for Bridgeport Speedway in New Jersey last weekend, and the trip was well worth the drive, as both father and son returned home from the “Dirty Jersey Finale” with top-10 finishes.
Lance, a National Sprint Car Hall of Famer, cruised to a ninth-place finish in the 30-lap 410 Sprints feature. He set himself up for the main event by taking second in his heat race.
Cole competed in the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series Sprint Cars, taking third in his heat race, before moving up from sixth to fifth in the feature.
McGrewBid Motoplex closed out its season last weekend with the “Fall Throwdown,” and Greencastle’s Madyson Florentine got in on the action with a seventh-place finish in the 270 Winged Micros.
The Hagerstown Quarter Midget Association canceled its finale scheduled for last weekend.
The local racing season comes down to one final night — the “Sprint Showdown” — a five-division program set to be held at BAPS Motor Speedway on Saturday, Nov. 14.
Below is a speedway-by-speedway, feature-by-feature look at races from last weekend that included drivers from the LocalNews1.org coverage area:
