HAGERSTOWN – Every day of the week, Hagerstown’s Knucklebones Games & Hobby hosts a different event – Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, and Yu-Gi-Oh, to name a few.
Store owner Tony Vigil is particularly proud of their spacious game room. “We offer the space for our customers to come play these games. It’s an environment that’s very clean… We pride ourselves on offering an experience that’s more personal.”

Vigil discovered his passion for games from deciphering old and forgotten games. “I blame my mom for that. She used to buy used board games at our local church thrift store. We lived near a military base, and so when people would move, they would leave things behind at the thrift store… so there was no shortage of Avalon Hill-style old school games.”

Knucklebones first opened in March of 2008 as Neverland Games in Waynesboro, moving to Hagerstown in 2015. In 2018, they moved across town to the Hagerstown Valley Mall, opening on Halloween night.

Having operated for so long, Vigil reflects on his time with the business and how his relationship with games have changed from enjoying learning to enjoying teaching.
“What I’ve found is that if… you make your hobby your business, you kind of lose interest in that hobby a little bit. The weird thing about that, though, is that if you were to say ‘I’m kind of interested in this but I don’t know how to play it. Could you show me how?’ I would be very happy to come and meet you here and teach you how to play.”
