CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Some 150 area workers will find their holidays at least a bit different this year as a long-time food processing company based in Adams County moves them into new jobs. Knouse Foods Cooperative, Inc., headquartered in Peach Glen, Adams County, has confirmed it will shut down its Chambersburg plant at the year.
According to Knouse Foods, the decision to close this plant came after a comprehensive review of their operations and long-term business strategy. Final production at the plant is expected to take place on December 31.
The 150 employees will either face transfers to other facilities or transition to other employment, company officials said.
Knouse officials said the company is committed to supporting affected employees with such things as severance packages, outplacement services and opportunities for relocation to other production facilities. They expressed gratitude for the contributions of employees at this facility and acknowledged the important role the operation has played in the community over the years.
