Dutchfest returns May 1-2 with new additions

CHAMBERSBURG — Shalom Christian Academy’s Dutchfest will return to the Franklin County Fairgrounds at the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club on May 1-2.

The annual event, now in its 48th year, serves as a major fundraiser for the PreK through 12th-grade school and draws families from across the region for food, auctions and community activities.

Organizers said the fairgrounds location will again provide the space and parking needed to accommodate large crowds while preserving the festival’s traditional offerings.

Dutchfest will feature a wide range of food, including its popular strawberry pie, along with items such as crab cakes (Friday only), pulled pork, beef sandwiches, country ham sandwiches, pizza, fresh cut fries, funnel cakes and milkshakes. All food sales and many activities operate using tokens available on-site.

Hurley Auctions will return to the live general auction on Saturday. The event’s traditional small animal and heifer auctions are on Friday night.

New and returning vendors will also be part of the 2026 festival, including A-Gang Adventures, All Things Granola, CNS Woodworking, Dorff’s Bees, Matt-Hat Jerky, Meadowmint Soaps, Mill Road Maple, Paper Pie, Sal’s Lego Creations and Stella & Dot, among many others offering handmade goods, crafts and specialty items.

The SCA 5K race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 2, with a new cross-country, natural terrain course introduced this year. Participants may check in Friday evening or Saturday morning, and walkers are welcome.

Children’s activities will run both days and include barrel rides, bounce houses, inflatable obstacle courses, a petting zoo and face painting. Wristbands are required for most activities, with select attractions requiring tokens.

A themed Kids Fun Walk will also take place Saturday morning, featuring a “Secret Spy Pursuit” challenge designed for younger children. Participants will complete obstacles and receive an “agent badge” upon finishing.

Worship sessions are scheduled Friday evening and will feature contemporary Christian artist Leslie McKee, who will lead music and share messages centered on faith and encouragement.

Dutchfest will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Admission and parking are free. The event will be held rain or shine.
