GREENCASTLE – Joy El has officially installed its 2025 board of directors, reaffirming its commitment to leadership in Christian ministry.
Dave Matthews Jr. returns as board chair. A retired nonprofit executive director of the Chambersburg YMCA, Matthews brings continued leadership to the board. Nat Knoll resumes his role as vice chair; he serves as lead pastor at New Franklin Assembly of God Church in Chambersburg. Penny Marks continues her board service as a member at large. Rod Teach will be serving as treasurer. Teach, who retired as chief financial officer of Fives Landis Corp. in Hagerstown, brings financial expertise to the position. Matthews also welcomed returning board member Craig Witmer, a partner at SEK LLC, where he leads governmental audit practice in Chambersburg.
Matthews also expressed gratitude to outgoing board member Clayton Black, owner of Keystone Ford, for his dedicated service and significant support during the 2024 ministry year. Black concluded his three-year term on the board as of 2024.
During the meeting, CFO Mike Smith thanked the board for their service and introduced Joy El’s new CEO, Chris Walsh, who joined Joy El’s team Jan. 1. Staff members Kim Sanger and Mike Smith were recognized for their milestone anniversaries – Sanger for five years of service as assistant director of Bible Adventure in the York area, and Smith for 15 years as CFO.
The dinner concluded with a time of prayer and worship.
