The Institute for Retired Persons (IRP) has announced its lecture schedule for the week of April 7, featuring a mix of in-person and virtual events designed to engage and educate its members. The organization, which averaged 37 participants in Zoom lectures and 59 attendees at in-person sessions over the past month, continues to provide a platform for intellectual stimulation and community connection.
This week’s lectures cover a wide range of topics:
- On Monday, April 7, Barbara Bisantz Raymond will present “The Baby Thief: The Untold Story of Georgia Tann, the Baby Seller Who Corrupted Adoption” via Zoom at 9 a.m.
- Tuesday, April 8, offers two in-person lectures at the Menno Haven Life Center. John Ricca will discuss “Islam: Origins, Principles & Factors Affecting Current Events” at 9 a.m., followed by Colonel Mark Hannigan’s presentation on “Space Force: Military Space Operations” at 10:30 a.m.
- On Wednesday, April 9, Tom Wheeler will deliver “Mr. Lincoln’s T-Mails: The Untold Story of How Abraham Lincoln Used the Telegraph to Win the Civil War” on Zoom at 9 a.m.
- Thursday, April 10, features two additional in-person lectures at the Life Center. Alison Dagnes, Ph.D., will address “The First Hundred Days: American Politics in the Age of Trump. Again” at 9 a.m., while Neil Coleman will explore “Johnstown’s Flood of 1889: Power Over Truth and the Science Behind the Disaster” at 10:30 a.m.
