WAYNESBORO, Pa. — The Waynesboro Historical Society is calling on community members to assist with a beautification project at its historic headquarters this month.
Organizers will host a Gardening Day on Saturday, July 11, at the Joseph J. Oller House, located at 138 W. Main St. The volunteer cleanup event is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The primary focus of the workday is weeding the expansive flower beds and grounds surrounding the Queen Anne-style brick home, which was built in 1892 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
According to organizers, no prior gardening experience is necessary to participate. Individuals of all skill levels are welcome to join the effort to maintain the local landmark.
Volunteers are asked to supply their own work gloves and personal gardening tools, such as trowels or weeding forks.
Those interested in volunteering or seeking additional information can contact the historical society by telephone at 717-762-1747.
