The Institute for Retired Persons is set to host a variety of lectures and activities this week, culminating in the members meeting on Thursday, April 17. The agenda and minutes from the previous meeting have been distributed to members, ensuring transparency and preparation.
The revised program brochure remains unchanged from last week and is available on the IRP website. Attendance figures reveal strong engagement, with an average of 38 participants joining Zoom lectures and 60 attending in-person sessions during the first five weeks of programming.
This week’s lineup includes:
- Monday, April 14, 9 a.m. (Zoom): Vetti Jacobs Thomas and Antigoni Ladd will share World War II reminiscences in an interview titled “World War II Reminiscences: An Interview with Vetti Thomas Levato.”
- Tuesday, April 15, 9 a.m. (MH LifeCenter): Sahand Miraminy will discuss “Restoring the Historic Harriet Lane House in Mercersburg.”
- Tuesday, April 15, 10:30 a.m. (MH LifeCenter): Colonel Jon Adams will present “Bridging Borders: The U.S. Army’s Foreign Area Officers and Their Role in Global Diplomacy.”
- Wednesday, April 16, 9 a.m. (Zoom): Ray Lucas will explore “Studying Galaxies with the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes.”
- Thursday, April 17, 9 a.m. (MH LifeCenter): The IRP members meeting will be led by Kathy Worthington, MD.
- Thursday, April 17, 10:30 a.m. (MH LifeCenter): Sara Grove, Ph.D., will discuss “William Penn’s ‘Holy Experiment:’ Religious Liberty in Pennsylvania Over the Past Three Centuries.
