High School Scores and Standings from April 13-18

There is some high-quality tennis being played at both North and South Hagerstown this spring.

North’s boys tennis squad jumped to 7-0 last week after wins over Linganore (3-2), South Hagerstown (5-0), and Tuscarora (4-1). The Rebel girls have been just as sharp, as the squad improved to 8-1 with wins over North Hagerstown (3-2) and Frederick (5-0).

On the track, South Hagerstown’s Trinity Savage added to her brilliant season with two more invitational wins. She won the 200 in 26.18 at the Brunswick Hump Day Meet — an invite that also saw teammate Chloe Gietka win the long jump (17-0.5) and triple jump (35-8) — before going on to conquer the long jump at the Gaithersburg Trojan Invitational with a school-record mark of 18-0. Not to be outdone, North Hagerstown’s girls dominated to win the team title at the Zonis Invitational, with Mackenzie Philp (1,600), Taraji Nartey (400), Anna Ramanan (3,200), Anna Chamberlin (100 hurdles), and Binta Macalou (long jump) all winning events.

The Zonis Invite also saw the Hub boys win the team title. Jonathan Morris won both the 110 and 300 hurdles, while Landon Call surged to victory in the 1,600. Greencastle’s Joe Lofton was also in attendance, and won the pole vault. Lofton’s teammate, Noah Parks, took second in the 800 in 1:55.97 at the Jack Rodddick Invite, while Chambersburg’s Okenie McLaughlin claimed third in the triple jump (46-7.25) at the same meet. Torin Sitter, of South Hagerstown, won the 200 in 22.38 at the Brunswick Hump Day Meet, while Smithsburg’s Dylan Herbst competed at the Under Armour Black & Blue Invitational and took second in the 1,600 in 4:23.73.

Baseball season is still going exceptionally well for both Chambersburg and Greencastle-Antrim, two teams who combine for a 22-1 record and are both in firm control of their respective divisions. The same can be said for the Chambersburg softball team, which owns a 9-2 record and controls a share of the Mid-Penn Commonwealth Division.

Below is a sport-by-sport look at how teams in the Local.News1 coverage area performed last week:
