WAYNESBORO—WellSpan Health’s Mobile Mammogram coach came to town Wednesday to provide preventative screenings for women, as part of a health event on Elder Street.
The state-of-the-art mobile unit is a new service to Central Pennsylvania and also stopped this week in Chambersburg and Aspers.
The service is an opportunity for businesses and organizations to bring life-saving screenings to women across the midstate.
In addition to the mammograms, Waynesboro’s event included a variety of healthy partners.
The Cumberland Valley Breast Care Alliance provided information on prevention and education to English- and Spanish-speaking women. The CVBCA provides support, education, and information on breast cancer and preventive health care to women and men in Franklin County.
Keystone Health provided insurance assistance, COVID testing and vaccines and other health information.
Also on hand was Chris Redos, of United Healthcare Dual Complete. “Government programs can be confusing and each individual is unique,” Redos explained. “I conduct a needs analysis to determine the plan that best suits their situation.”
Representatives of the Mental Health Association of Franklin and Fulton counties provided wellness information and activities, as well as the Franklin County Housing Authority.
“FCHA is proud to host Keystone, WellSpan, CVBCA and our other community partners at our mini health fair,” said Amanda Keefer, FCHA Resident Initiatives Coordinator. “FCHA doesn’t just provide housing, we also provide and encourage resident participation in these important and crucial supportive services for health and overall well-being.”
