HAGERSTOWN- LocalNews1 has partnered with The Hagerstown Town and Country Almanack to bring you a story every Monday taken from current or past editions of the Almanack. First published in 1797, it’s the second oldest almanac in the United States and has been in continuous publication for 230 years and is the only almanac in the United States still published by the founders’ direct descendants.
As the region shovels and plows its streets and roads after one of the biggest snowstorms in several years this past weekend, the Hagerstown Town and Country Almanack offers the following prediction pertaining to January and February weather.
“January 2026: 1-5: seasonably cold, dry and becoming windy; 6-10: seasonably cold with a period of snow, followed by dry weather; 11-15: turning milder with rain, followed by dry weather; 16-20: rain/snow mix, then turning brisk and very cold; 21-25: turning much milder with a period of heavy rain; 26-31: another period of rain, then colder and ending the month with snow.”
“February 2026: 1-5: seasonably cold with periods of snow; 6-10: staying seasonably cold with occasional snow, ice and rain; 11-15: milder and dry; 16-20: warm at first, then rain and snow, turning colder and then milder by the 20th; 21-25: milder with periods of rain; sleet, freezing rain in the mountains; 26-28: seasonably mild with patches of drizzle or sprinkles.”
After the huge winter storm we have just experienced, residents of the region may not be ready for any more of the white stuff.
