GREENCASTLE. — The Borough of Greencastle has scheduled its annual bulk drop-off event for Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26, offering residents an opportunity to dispose of large household items responsibly. The event will be held at the Public Works Building, 40 Mifflin Lane.
On Friday, drop-off hours will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., while Saturday’s window will be shorter, from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event is exclusively for borough residents, and identification will be required prior to disposal.
Residents are encouraged to bring a variety of accepted items, which include household appliances such as microwaves, refrigerators, stoves, washers, and dryers. Other acceptable materials include household furniture, glass, air conditioners, vehicle batteries (limited to one per license), lawn equipment such as mowers and weed trimmers (emptied of fuel), mattresses and box springs, and miscellaneous bulk items like patio furniture and grills. Scrap metal will also be accepted.
However, certain items will not be allowed at the event. Electronics such as TVs, computers, monitors and keyboards are prohibited. Additionally, household trash, hazardous waste (including paints and cleaners), yard waste like leaves or tree clippings, construction materials such as drywall or roofing supplies, fencing materials, concrete blocks or bricks and tires will not be accepted. Batteries are restricted to one per license.
Residents should note that they may need to assist in unloading their bulk items upon arrival. The borough reserves the right to refuse any items it deems unsuitable for disposal.
