CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The Franklin County Senior Community Grant Program is now accepting applications from nonprofit organizations, local governments, and educational institutions dedicated to improving the lives of older adults across Franklin County. Funded by the John H. Shook Foundation and administered by the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation, the program will award grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 for projects that enhance the physical, emotional, and social well-being of Franklin County seniors.
The grant program supports existing or new innovative initiatives across a range of focus areas, including arts and culture, education and training, fitness and recreation, health and wellness, innovation and technology, social engagement, and volunteer and mentorship opportunities. Priority will be given to projects that demonstrate measurable outcomes, address unmet needs, and offer creative solutions that improve quality of life and foster community connection among Franklin County’s senior population.
Applications must be submitted by May 8, 2026, and grant recipients will be notified no later than July 1, 2026. Funded projects must take place within Franklin County and include a sustainability plan outlining how the initiative will continue beyond the initial funding period. Awardees will also be required to submit progress updates and final impact reports.
“This program is designed to empower organizations that are making a meaningful difference in the lives of our senior residents,” said Ginny Harriger, Executive Director of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation. “This incredible gift from the John H. Shook Foundation will help to support initiatives that promote health, connection, and opportunity for older adults in our community.”
