Hats off to the field hockey squad at Gettysburg, which has already clinched a title in the Mid-Penn Colonial Division.
Powered by a core of All-Star caliber players and surrounded by a solid group of role-players, the Warriors have dominated the Colonial. And if Gettysburg can win again on Thursday night, when it travels to take on Greencastle-Antrim, the Warriors will finish with an undefeated division record.
Nobody would love to spoil the championship party more than the Blue Devils, who need just one more victory to exceed last season’s win total.
We’ve selected this contest between the top two teams in the Colonial as our Game of the Week.
The Warriors have already beaten Greencastle once this season, but the Blue Devils can never be counted out under the senior leadership of forwards Natalie Medina and Rowan Shubert, two players who have combined for nearly 30 goals this fall.
Expect a playoff atmosphere on Thursday in a game that will most certainly have postseason implications.
In the weeks and months to come throughout the high school sports season, we plan on spotlighting multiple teams and sports with our Game of the Week. Any big upcoming contests we should know about? Send suggestions to Andy Sandrik via email at [email protected].
