WAYNESBORO – Gallery 50 hosts an opening reception for a new art exhibition, “The World According to Art,” on Friday, Aug. 8 from 5:30–8 p.m. at 50 West Main St. in downtown Waynesboro. The evening will showcase the new artwork and include free refreshments in addition to live music from “The Sinatra Thing & More” with musicians Mitch Morrill and David Gorozdos in the adjacent Music Makers space.
The 10 featured artists are Barbara DeUgarte, Karen Ferrick, Mary Grassell, Dee Henry, Melissa Hook, Eric Hyne, Carolyn Seibert-Drager, Andy Smetzer, Lindsay Tozier-School and Dr. Gloria Walker.
“Our title, ‘The World According to Art’ reflects the wide variety of subject matter, styles, and media included in this exhibition,” said Marti Yeager, Gallery 50 curator. “There is truly something for everyone. We hope that you will visit Gallery 50 and see for yourself.”
The gallery will also have new fine art and crafts by local artists available on the shelves: pottery, wood carvings, jewelry, stained glass art, books and more.
Following the reception, the exhibit will be on display through Nov. 1. Gallery 50 is open Fridays from 5–8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. The exhibit will soon be available to browse and purchase on the gallery’s online shop at www.gallery50-aagw.square.site
The gallery is also hosting a Summer Raffle, with an artwork prize donated by artist Sandra Schuster. All proceeds support Gallery 50 and the Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro. Raffle tickets can be purchased online or in-person at the gallery through October 25, when the drawing takes place.
