GREENCASTLE – Greencastle-Antrim School District students recently participated in the Partnership for Career Development’s Career Connections event, focusing on agriculture, food and natural resources. This successful event, held in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, brought together students from 13 participating schools to explore diverse career paths.
Professionals from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Department of Environmental Protection and Department of Agriculture shared insights into fields such as state parks management, forestry, engineering, environmental law and veterinary science.
Guest speakers included DCNR Secretary Cindy Dunn, Acting Secretary Jessica Shirley of DEP and Deputy Secretary Lisa Graybeal of PDA. The event not only provided valuable career insights but also sparked enthusiasm among students, thanks in part to a special appearance by Lucky, a lanternfly-spotting German shepherd.
Organizers Christine Haertsch, Erica Blake and Anne Lauritzen were instrumental in making this event a success, which aimed to inspire and connect students with rewarding careers in conservation and environmental protection across Pennsylvania.
