THURMONT – Frederick County Public Libraries are holding events to celebrate the visit of acclaimed young adult fiction author, R.L. Stine’s visit to Frederick at the Weinberg Center on Tuesday, Oct. 28. While tickets to see the author od the popular book series “Goosebumps” are sold out, there are several events happening throughout the county at the local libraries to honor the famous writer.
One such event took place on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the Thurmont Regional Library. It was the LEGO® Watch & Build: Goosebumps “A Night in Terror Tower” event that was held in the library community room.
Lori Knapp, the Children’s Library Specialist of the Thurmont Branch of Franklin County shared that even though this night was dedicated to Stine, this was not a one-time event for the branch.
“Every Wednesday evening, the library holds a children’s program featuring a unique artistic program that is both educational and fun,” she explained, “they get the opportunity to work with paint, clay, yarn, and of course, LEGO®’s.”
The Oct. 15 event featured a showing of the two-part episode, “A Night in Terror Tower” from the popular 90’s TV series, “Goosebumps.” To keep with the theme there were two building contests for the guests to participate in.
The first was the “Tallest Tower” that was won by Hazel, Waylon, and Nora who worked as a team to complete their tower. The second contest with the “Creative Constructor” award which went to Hank, whose tower came equipped with moving parts that included a swinging scythe.
