CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Franklin Fire Company No. 4 has received a $75,000 donation from the Brake family to help fund a new Pierce engine, the company announced.
The new engine will replace one of the company’s two 22-year-old engines, according to a post on its Facebook page.
In announcing the donation, the company highlighted the Harold L. Brake & Dolores K. Brake Legacy Fund, administered by The Foundation for Enhancing Communities. The fund supports nonprofit organizations or organizations with fiscal sponsors working to preserve rural life in St. Thomas, Peters and Hamilton townships in Franklin County.
The fund was established through the estate of Harold L. Brake, a longtime St. Thomas resident. According to the announcement, Harold and Dolores Brake shared an interest in preserving the area’s rural quality of life.
The fire company also recognized Harold Brake’s grandson, Charlie Brake, and the Brake family for their continued community support.
“We are immensely grateful for their hard work in our community and continued support!” the company said in the announcement.
