CHAMBERSBURG – Franklin County commissioners unanimously approved a $2.4 million replacement survelliance system for the county jail at its at its meeting on Wednesday, June 11.
The current system dates back to the original jail in 2007 and has proven unreliable. The upgraded system will enhance surveillance capabilities with 243 cameras, provide broader 360-degree coverage and improve overall facility monitoring, county officials said. These improvements are critical for addressing liability concerns and ensuring greater oversight of daily operations within the jail.
The upgrade with take 12-14 months and will be completed unit by unit.
