CHAMBERSBURG – The Franklin County Board of Commissioners approved two crime/delinquency grants totaling $230,445 at a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
These were Criminal Justice Advisory Board agreements with the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. They included:
- Children’s Advocacy Center of Franklin County received $50,000 to sustain and expand services for child abuse victims.
- A second grant of $184,475 was awarded to enhance Crisis Intervention Team training, including refresher courses, a customized train-the-trainer program in trauma-informed care, and three two-day workshops for 911 telecommunicators titled “Deadly Calls and Fatal Encounters.” The training aims better to prepare emergency responders in Franklin County and neighboring communities.
In other action, the commission awarded a bid for a new uninterruptible power supply system to strengthen backup reliability for county emergency services.
Two tax appeal settlements were finalized, resolving cases involving Atramento Properties, LLC and the Letterkenny Federal Credit Union, now operating as Patriot Federal Credit Union.
The board also issued a proclamation declaring September as Recovery Month. Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) Specialist Joey Bailey and County Administrator James Eagler joined commissioners in recognizing the monthlong observance, which highlights local efforts to support individuals recovering from substance use disorders.
