The Fort Ritchie Community Center has announced a new program designed to help teens develop
crucial soft skills for the modern workplace through fun and interactive activities. The Teen
Leadership Program targets teenagers ages 13-18 and aims to fill a growing gap by equipping the
next generation with essential interpersonal skills needed to succeed.
“Employers are increasingly prioritizing soft skills like communication, teamwork, and critical
thinking when hiring,” said Hannah Spinks, coordinator of the program. “The Teen Leadership Program
will empower participants to develop these skills through dynamic and enjoyable hands-on learning
activities.”
“We’re creating an engaging and supportive space where they can build confidence, learn to
collaborate effectively, and develop the problem-solving abilities that will set them up for
success, all while having a great time”, Spinks said. Participants in the program will engage in a
variety of activities such as team-based challenges, collaborative games, guest presenters,
networking, and mock interviews with local employers.
The Fort Ritchie Community Center is in Cascade on the former Fort Ritchie property. The center
offers a variety of programs for people of all ages. It features state-of-the-art exercise
equipment, group fitness classes, personal training sessions, and a gymnasium. Youth activities are
scheduled during the week and on Saturdays. A food pantry is open to residents on the 2nd and 4th
Tuesday of each month. To learn more about the center and its offerings, please visit the website
