CASCADE, Md. – The Fort Ritchie Community Center will host health-focused events throughout October, aimed at providing essential services to local residents.
On Saturdays, from Nov. 1 through the 22nd, Sports Saturdays will be running Dance lessons. These are open to ages 6 – 13 and cost $5 per session. This will run from 9 – 10:30 a.m., and the theme is Nutcracker for a New Age.
On Thursday Nov. 13 and 20, Fort Ritchie Community Center will be running the Circus Bootcamp. It will start at 6 p.m., and will cost $3 for a member, or $7 for a non-member. There are also special rates for seniors over 62, and youths under 12.
On Sunday, Nov. 23, there will be a Co-Ed Youth Volleyball Clinic for ages 6 – 16. 6-11 year olds will be from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., and ages 12 – 16 will be from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. This is a free event; however registration will be required!
On Tuesdays through Dec. 16, Kids Club will be running from 6 – 7:30 p.m.! This event is open to ages 6 – 13, and costs $5 per pre-registered participant and $7 per drop-in participant.
On Wednesdays through Dec. 10, Homeschool Club will be running at 10 a.m. for age groups 6-10 and 11-16. It costs $5 per child per session and includes social recreation, physical activity, and creativity!
On Thursdays through Dec. 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Teen Leadership program for ages 12 – 18 will be hosted at Fort Ritchie Community Center. Many skills will be taught including but not limited to resume building, interview etiquette, financial literacy, automotive basics, and cooking!
On Tuesdays, Nov. 18 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and on Friday, Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Lindsay from the Washington County Health Department will be at the Community Center to offer free blood pressure and pre-diabetes screenings.
Also on Tuesday Nov. 18, Tabitha’s Table, located in Smithsburg, will be providing the community with food items from their pantry by 11 a.m. until the food items are gone..
