A recent sponsorship gift of $5,000 from FirstEnergy Foundation will support The Institute’s ongoing watershed science education activities.
“These important funds will supply our WaterStriders (a stream study group of middle and high school students), high school and university interns, and intermediate grade school students with vital supplies and equipment as they engage in watershed science studies experiences,” said Tracy Holliday, The Institute’s executive director.
“We deeply value our longtime partnership with FirstEnergy as we strive to serve the community with experiences that educate, inspire and unite people around shared interests,” Holliday said.
Education is the cornerstone of The Institute’s mission. In addition to professionally supervised watershed science activities, The Institute offers curriculum-based programming for school students in grades K–7, community learning programs for all ages, citizen science opportunities, and a full roster of community events.
