WAYNESBORO – Residents and visitors flocked to Main Street Park on Saturday for the annual Small Business Saturday Market, embracing the holiday spirit amid crisp November air.
The event, held Nov. 29 at 25 E Main St., drew crowds from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. under a canopy of garlands and wreaths. Local vendors showcased handmade crafts, seasonal treats and unique gifts, highlighting the community’s commitment to supporting independent entrepreneurs.
Organizers from Mainstreet Waynesboro emphasized the market’s role in bolstering small businesses during the holiday rush. “Shop Local” banners fluttered in the breeze, encouraging shoppers to prioritize homegrown wares over big-box alternatives.
Complementing the market, downtown shops along Main Street extended hours, offering specials on apparel, jewelry and home decor. Foot traffic spilled from the park into nearby storefronts, creating a vibrant corridor of holiday cheer.
Attendees praised the festive atmosphere, complete with jingle bells and evergreen accents. Families bundled in scarves selected ornaments and baked goods, while couples browsed artisanal soaps and wooden toys.
The market concluded as dusk approached, leaving participants optimistic about a strong close to the year’s shopping season. Mainstreet Waynesboro officials reported robust turnout, signaling sustained enthusiasm for local commerce.
As Black Friday fades, events like this underscore Small Business Saturday’s enduring appeal in fostering economic vitality one purchase at a time. A Small Business Saturday also was held in Chambersburg.
