Farmers market honors first responders

WAYNESBORO – The last farmers market of the 2025 season drew crowds to Main Street Park on Saturday, where attendees honored local first responders amid a festive atmosphere.

The event, held from 8:30 a.m. to noon at 25 E. Main St., carried the theme “Meet the First Responders Day.” Visitors explored a fire truck on display and met Bushta, a police K-9.

Local musician Brian Forberger performed from 10 to 11:30 a.m., providing live entertainment. Vendors offered seasonal produce, handmade goods and fall decorations in their final offerings of the year.

The market blended community engagement with seasonal celebration, attracting locals to recognize emergency services while enjoying the vibrant scene.

The event marked the close of the farmers market season, though Waynesboro’s Market Day was set for Oct. 4 on Main Street, closed between North Broad Street and Potomac Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. That upcoming gathering promised live entertainment, vendors, local restaurants, food trucks, activities, contests and a Boro Bake-off apple pie contest.
