Expansion and capital campaign continues at Joy El

GREENCASTLE—Camp Joy El recently kicked off the renovation and expansion of the existing Dining Hall.

“Our Disciples Dining Hall is the place where connections are made,” says Aaron Ziebarth, Executive Director of Joy El. “After years of heavy use, the wear and tear is visible. This project will provide space for larger groups and allow for many more connections to be made.”

This phase is included in part two of the Igniting Hope in Generations that seek Him Campaign, dedicated to providing desperately needed additional dining and housing space for staff and guests.

Part one of the campaign, completed earlier this year, was the new construction of a Welcome Center. This new building now houses the offices that were once located in the dining hall.

Part three of the campaign will include the construction of the Shepherd’s Lodge, extra lodging to keep the camp from having to turn away potential campers.

Through this campaign, Joy El will be able to reach and serve more children and teens with the hope of Jesus for years to come.

“During these challenging times, people are looking for opportunities to give security and hope to our youth,” said Dick Marks, chair of the capital campaign. “My years with Joy El have continually affirmed that this is one of the most effective youth serving organizations to do this.”

For the past two years, directors, staff and volunteers have diligently worked to receive funds generously provided to complete the first phase of this campaign, the Quiet Phase. The final, Public Phase began Monday in May. As of the beginning of August, the campaign had raised 65 percent of its goal.

Joy El is committed to completing the campaign through the public phase and constructing these facilities debt free.

Joy El serves many children, teens and adults through Bible Adventure and Christians in Action programs, the 4.12 Leadership Training Program, summer camps and hosting church groups. Find more info at joyelcamps.org and joyelgeneration.org.
