There’s no need to refresh your web browser: Chase Dietz has, indeed, won at Lincoln Speedway for the second time in as many weeks.
The red-hot York driver captured last weekend’s 30-lap, 410 Sprints feature over Kyle Moody and Brock Zearfoss for a $6,000 win. Fayetteville’s Lance Dewease competed and was a DNF for 23rd.
After driving from sixth to second in his heat race, Dietz was the third-starter for the feature. It didn’t take him long to make forward progress, as he moved up to the No. 2 spot on the second lap.
For the next 17 laps Dietz stalked race leader and defending track champion Freddie Rahmer, before he finally found an opening on a Lap 19 restart. Dietz took the top spot, maintained his lead after a 20th-lap restart, and cruised to Victory Lane.
While Dietz had plenty to celebrate, the race program held mixed results for Dewease in his new ride, the Rich Eichelberger-owned No. 8E car. Dewease had a sharp start to his day, moving from 10th to fifth in his 10-lap heat race, and started 13th in the feature. His luck took a downward turn in the back half of the feature, when his ride slowed and his race came to an end. It was a similar ending to the previous week, when brake issues derailed an otherwise strong night on the track from Dewease.
Mother Nature had her say in the racing schedule last weekend as Saturday races at Lincoln and BAPS Motor Speedways were washed away. The weather report looks much better for this weekend, when Port Royal Speedway is scheduled to kick off its season.
Below is a closer look at the results from last weekend’s feature at Lincoln:
