More than 50 travelers from Chambersburg, Greencastle, Waynesboro, Shippensburg and Mercersburg embarked on an unforgettable journey through Alaska earlier this month with the CVBA Travel Club led by Cathy Folmar of Dream Vacations.
The adventure began with a land tour through Fairbanks, Denali, Talkeetna and Anchorage before boarding the Radiance of the Seas for a scenic cruise. Highlights included visits to Seward, Hubbard Glacier, Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait Point, Ketchikan, the Inside Passage and Vancouver.
Along the way, the group enjoyed authentic Alaskan experiences such as meeting sled dogs training for the Iditarod, panning for gold, viewing grizzly bears, caribou and moose in Denali National Park, and learning about the Alaskan way of life. Travelers also flew over glaciers, zipped down the world’s largest zip line, sampled Fireweed Honey ice cream, toured the wilderness aboard the glass-domed Wilderness Express train, visited local shops and artisans, explored terrain by ATV and took in the breathtaking sight of Mt. Denali (Mt. McKinley).
“Alaska was truly amazing,” said Cathy Folmar. “From the wildlife to the glaciers to the warmth of the people, our travelers made incredible memories. That’s why we love group travel – we get to share these once-in-a-lifetime adventures together.”
The CVBA Travel Club is an opportunity for local residents to enjoy unique group travel experiences with their neighbors to domestic and international destinations while supporting the business community. A portion of the proceeds from each trip supports the Cumberland Valley Business Alliance as well as the member travel agent.
The CVBA Travel Club will head to Italy in 2026! Led by Carol DiBiase of Cruise Planners and Collette, the Italian Vistas Tour will run June 22 through July 4, 2026.
From the ruins of Pompeii to the canals of Venice, travelers will enjoy multi-night stays in Rome, Florence and Venice, with additional visits to the Isle of Capri, Pisa, Verona, and a Tuscan winery. The tour blends rich history, stunning art and breathtaking landscapes for an unforgettable experience.
