CVAS hosts ‘best yet’ Cabin Fever Music Fest, raising nearly $15,000 for homeless animals

CHAMBERSBURG – A great turnout by the community, strong sponsorships by local businesses and five popular bands drew some 300 people on Saturday, March 1, to raise nearly $15,000 for ongoing adoption programs and support services for The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter.

The event, which is the organization’s largest fundraiser each year, was again hosted by The Orchards Restaurant and banquet facility in Chambersburg. Billed as “One Venue – 5 Bands – 1 Evening,” the event featured a variety of music from the 1960s to the present day, including country classics and dance music.

The five bands, which donated their time and talent for the event included The Jill Fulton Band, Soleil, The Negley Brothers, Cameron Molloy & The Drivin’ Wheel and Club Medics. Sound and lighting was provided by All Sound Pro LLC, Chambersburg.

“Our turnout was amazing: delicious food, great music and a variety of fun ways to raise money for CVAS! A good time was had by everyone! After all, who doesn’t enjoy a community night out for a good cause,” said Shelter Executive Director Tiffanie Smoyer. “We are so thankful for the continued support we receive from The Orchards, the bands and the local businesses – all making it possible to raise almost $15,000 for the animals,” she noted.

Strong support from regional businesses contributed to a successful evening, led by premier event sponsors VFW Post #1599 and F&M Trust. Other business sponsors included Menno Haven Communities, Nitterhouse Masonry Products, Minnequa Social Club, Cable Eye Associates, Jill Fulton Band, Kyner’s Auto Sales, SEK CPAs, Wolter Advanced Dental Care, DiLoreto Cosentino Bolinger, Sunnyhill Properties, The Chambersburg Club, Cumberland Valley Tree Service, Chambersburg Dental Associates, Mercy House of Chambersburg, Marine Corps League – Landis-McCleaf Detachment, and Thomas Koutris.

Cameron Schooley, CVAS board president, said, “We’re always thankful for our business sponsors who contribute heavily each year to Cabin Fever with their support. Those of us with the shelter greatly value that type of commitment from our local business owners. This event really isn’t about the shelter; it’s really a way for us to continue our adoption programs and other services for our animals – many of which have been lost or abandoned, surrendered and often times abused.”

Events coming up soon in the early part of 2025 to benefit the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter include the Annual CVAS Easter Hound Hunt, April 13 at the shelter, and the CVAS Mike Krugh Memorial Golf Tournament June 6 at the Caledonia Golf Club.
