CHAMBERSBURG – The Cumberland Valley shone brightly this holiday season through the annual “Deck the Town” and “Light It Up” contests, blending festive fun with community impact. Together, the events raised more than $4,300 for local nonprofits while drawing thousands of visitors to enjoy the region’s dazzling light displays.
“Deck the Town” brought neighbors together in a friendly competition that resulted in $1,922 raised for the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter. The top three winners included The Clark of Whinstone (first place), Merry & Bright (second place), and Fleagle Lights (third place).
The 2025 “Light It Up” contest reached new heights, generating $2,400 to benefit the Greencastle Antrim Food Pantry. This year’s winners were Alternative Choices for Best Business, Santa & The Nutcrackers—2 Lit 2 Quit for Best Individual Home, and Candy Cane Lane, which captured both Best Group Entry and Most Overall Votes.
Organized by the Cumberland Valley Business Alliance (CVBA), the contests encouraged creativity, tourism, and philanthropy across the region. Combined with participants’ enthusiasm and the generosity of voters, the events reflected the spirit of compassion and cooperation that defines the community during the holidays.
“These displays do more than light up our streets—they brighten lives,” CVBA officials said in a statement thanking all who decorated, voted, and donated.
