New league. No problem.
Two boys squads from the Chambersburg-based Union Soccer Club — the U12 Havoc and U14 United — have made a smooth transition to the challenges of the Elite Development Program (EDP) League this fall.
The Havoc and United, who combine for a 9-1-1 record, both lead their respective EDP divisions. And they’re not the only USC teams dominating this season.
In the Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League (CPYSL), four USC boys teams — the U9 Vipers (8-0), U9 Rockets (7-1), U12 Wolverines (5-0-2), and U13 Vikings (4-0-1) — and one girls team, the U14 Eclipse (5-1-2), have either won their divisions or hold at least a share of first place.
Greencastle United Soccer Club has also been active in the CPYSL this fall, and the organization has been spearheaded by the play of its U10 Frederick boys team, which closes out its campaign as the runner-up in Division 2-West.
Championships are up for grabs for three area programs competing in the United Recreational Soccer League. Waynesboro Boro United (6-0-1) owns first place in the fifth-sixth grade girls White Division, while seventh-eighth grade Co-Ed play has been highlighted by the efforts of the Hagerstown Area Youth Soccer League Hub City Vipers (7-0) and Smithsburg Youth Athletics’ Bailey Purple (5-0-1), both of whom lead their respective divisions.
