Greencastle United Soccer Club is off to the races in Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League play.
It’s two weeks into the season and still, the boys teams from the GUSC have yet to taste defeat. All four squads — U10 Frederick (1-0-1), U10 Knoll (1-0), U11 Smagac (2-0), and U13 Tracey (1-0) — are all off to unbeaten starts.
Union Soccer Club, based in Chambersburg, is also off to a fast start. Six USC boys teams — the U9 Vipers (2-0), U9 Rockets (2-0), U12 Wolverines (1-0), U13 Vikings (1-0), U13 Hawks (2-0), and U14 Gladiators (1-0) — are all off to unblemished starts, and the same can be said for three USC girls teams: U9 Blaze (1-0), U10 Tornadoes (2-0), and U14 Eclipse (1-0).
Elsewhere on the pitch, the United Recreational Soccer League has released its division alignments and schedules. Included in the URSL this spring are five teams from Waynesboro, two from Hagerstown, 11 from Smithsburg, two from Fairfield, and three from Greencastle. The league is scheduled to kick off its season on Saturday, Sept. 12.
