‘Civil War spirituality’ to be discussed by Middleburg/Mason-Dixon Line group

STATE LINE, Pa. – Bob O’Connor, author of non-fiction and historical fiction Civil War books, will discuss how Northern and Southern pastors used the Bible during that war to justify or denounce slavery when the Middleburg/Mason-Dixon Line Historical Society meets on May 21.

The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the State Line Ruritan Building, 15481 Park Drive, located off Route 11 at the State Line Community Park.

Parker, from Charles Town, West Virginia, will discuss “Civil War Spirituality.”

He will examine the spirituality of political and military leaders, such as Abraham Lincoln, who never joined a church and was skeptical of some religious beliefs.  The public is invited, free. Readers may visit www.middleburgmasondixon.org or call 301-739-0357 for more information.
