CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The Chambersburg Memorial YMCA will host the eighth annual EdK Memorial 1K Fun Run and 5K Race on Sunday, Oct. 4, beginning at 2 p.m. at the YMCA, 570 E. McKinley St.
Established by the Sponseller family in 2018, the annual event honors the memory of Ed Sponseller while supporting a cause that was meaningful to him.
Proceeds from the race benefit LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a free 12-week program designed to help cancer survivors regain strength, improve overall health and enhance their quality of life through physical activity and supportive community programming.
Participants of all ages and fitness levels are welcome. Medals will be awarded. Those registering by Sept. 14 will receive a T-shirt.

• 1K Fun Run: 2 p.m.
• 5K Walk/Run: Immediately following the 1K
• Location: Chambersburg Memorial YMCA, 570 E. McKinley St.
• Cost: $10 for the 1K Fun Run | $30 for the 5K Race

This event is also dog-friendly, allowing participants to bring their canine companions. Organizers note that all dogs must remain on a leash at all times. Funds raised through the EdK Memorial Run will help support the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program, helping local cancer survivors continue to have access to this important program.
