Kenneth "Hockey" Hock

CHAMBERSBURG – With a very low voter turnout countywide, election results in Chambersburg are worth noting.

In Ward 1, Democrat David Wilson pulled an upset over 32-year Republican incumbent Allen Coffman, beating him by 154 votes or 57 percent of the vote. Wilson tallied 219 mail-in ballots to Coffman’s 95. This election was Wilson’s first. Coffman, the current president of Borough Council, frequently represents the borough at business openings and community events. He was recently among a group who traveled to Chambersburg’s Sister City, Gotemba, Japan.

In Ward 2, Republican Austin Rosenbaum will represent the second ward come January, having beat Democrat Shannon Jackson by 80 votes. Rosenbaum, a local realtor, beat incumbent Tom Newcomer in the GOP primary in May.

In Ward 3, Democrat Curtis Shoup secured 58.5% of the vote, defeating one-term Republican incumbent Dom Brown. A fourth-grade teacher at Scotland Elementary,

In Ward 4, Republican Stacy Short’s time on Borough Council was even shorter when Democrat Lucinda Butler won by 58 votes. More mail-in voters chose Butler. Butler is a logistics specialist for Corelle Brands. Short has served on Borough Council since being appointed in 2023 following the death of Larry Hensley. An appointee to the other fourth ward seat, Republican Jamie Boden was elected to serve out the second half of the term that will end in 2027. He ran unopposed.

In Ward 5, Democrat Andrew Kilbride secured four more votes than one-term Republican Weston Waytow in the fifth ward. While Waytow won in polling, Kilbride won 61 more mail-in votes.

As for the mayor, the owner of Factory Direct Carpets, Republican Kenneth “Hockey” Hock won an 87-vote majority of votes to secure a second term as mayor. Just under 51% of voters chose him over Democrat John “Sean” Scott III, a branch manager with Truist who previously represented the second ward on Borough Council. Hock ended election night with 2,198 votes for Hock and 2,111 for Scott.
