CHAMBERSBURG – Chambersburg Community Theatre, in partnership with the Franklin County Library System, will host “Books & Butterflies” on Friday, Aug. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Coyle Free Library.
The event will feature cast members from the theater’s upcoming production of “The Diary of Anne Frank,” set to run Sept. 11-14 at the Capitol Theatre. Participants will hear selected readings from the novel and join in decorating butterflies as part of The Butterfly Project, a global memorial initiative.
Founded in 2006, The Butterfly Project honors the 1.5 million children lost in the Holocaust, with each decorated butterfly symbolizing a child’s memory. The artwork will be displayed during the free performances of the play at the Wood Center, fostering remembrance and education.
Attendees of all ages are welcome to participate. Butterflies can be decorated at the library during the event or picked up to complete at home between Aug. 6-29. Completed butterflies should be returned by the first week of September for inclusion in the installation.
For more information or to arrange pickup, contact the library or follow Chambersburg Community Theatre on Facebook.
