CHAMBERSBURG – The Chambersburg Salvation Army Corps will open its doors to the community this Christmas to continue a long-standing tradition of holiday fellowship and service.
The organization’s Annual Christmas Dinner is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 25. The event will run from noon to 2 p.m., offering a warm meal to all residents regardless of background.
This year’s dinner is made possible through the support of Lynne Newman and the Congregation Sons of Israel. Organizers noted that the event relies on the “giving spirit” of these local partners to provide a festive environment for those who might otherwise spend the holiday alone.
While the meal is free to attend, the Salvation Army is currently seeking additional support to ensure the event’s success. Organizers stated that both donations and volunteers are still needed to assist with meal preparation, service and clean-up.
Those interested in volunteering, donating, or seeking more information about the dinner are encouraged to contact Lynne Newman at 717-360-2407.
The event flyer highlights the inclusive nature of the gathering with the message “All are welcome,” alongside the Biblical verse Isaiah 9:6-7, reflecting the holiday’s spiritual significance to the hosting organization.
