CHAMBERSBURG – The Chambersburg Ballet presents its annual Winter Showcase on Friday, Feb. 27, and Saturday, Feb. 28, at Wilson College.
Performances begin at 7 p.m. each evening in Laird Hall on the campus of Wilson College.
The program blends contemporary storytelling with classical ballet, highlighting mentorship, musicality and technical excellence within the regional dance company.
Faculty member Alcinda Burchill choreographed the opening piece, “My House is Your Home,” a contemporary work centered on the bond between generations of dancers. The piece reflects the studio’s culture of mentorship, honoring artistic growth and the passing of experience from one generation to the next.
Artistic Director Brian Grant stages “Arensky Variations,” a classical study designed to “make the music visible.” Built around a central musical theme, the ballet explores variations that showcase the dancers’ versatility and musical sensitivity.
The program concludes with “Paquita Suite,” drawn from the final act of the classic ballet “Paquita.” The suite captures the dramatic revelation in which Paquita, raised as a Roma girl, discovers she is the long-lost daughter of a Spanish nobleman. With her true identity revealed, social barriers dissolve, culminating in the celebrated Act III Wedding Pas de Deux and a royal court celebration.

The Chambersburg Ballet Guild, a nonprofit organization, operates both the school and performing company, providing ballet instruction to students ages 3 and older and offering regional performance opportunities for dancers ages 10 through adult.
